Kindle

Whenever I go on business trips, I always take a good book to read. Lately though, my business trips last for more than a week. It seems like I always finish reading my book before the end of the trip. I have tried taking more than one book with me on these trips but they can be pretty heavy. So I decided the best way to go would be for me to buy an e-book reader. That way I could download whenever I want and I can get as many books as I want. I started doing a lot of researching in trying to find the right e-book reader. There are a couple on the market but I eventually decided to go with the Kindle 3G.

The Kindle is a mature product and has been out for several years. It is easy to use and designed very well. Most importantly, it is easy to read. When I bought the Kindle, I immediately downloaded a book to try it out. The Kindle was really fast. Page refresh was quick. When turned the page it immediately appeared. There was no lag whatsoever. Moving the cursor on screen was also quick. This made navigation easy because I can quickly jump around and get to where I need to go like selecting a book or going to a certain chapter from the table of contents.

The screen contrast on the Kindle is excellent. This works well when you want to read while in bed with low lights. It also works when you want to read while outside with the sun up. I was able to read without any glare from the screen.

The battery life on the Kindle is quite long. In fact, I was able to get about 3 weeks without having to charge my Kindle. I turn off the wireless if I am not using it to conserve battery.

All in all this is a very good e-book reader. It does exactly as it was meant to do and some more. You can use it as an mp3 player and also as a web browser. Currently, you can choose from three different Kindles. They are Kindle, Kindle 3G, and Kindle DX. The Kindle just has the basic Wi-Fi and is also the cheapest Kindle. The Kindle 3G has free 3G connectivity so you can use it to download books even if you don’t have Wi-Fi around. Finally, you can get the Kindle DX if you are looking for a larger screen size. It has a display size of 9.7” diagonal. It is also the most expensive.
